If you want to live as long, healthy, and happy a lie as possible, it’s important that you take as good care of your body as possible. The thing is, many of us women are so busy looking after other people that we rarely take time out to ensure that we’re doing ok.
It’s time to change that and start taking better care of your body right now so that you not only improve your own health but also so you can better support those around you. With that in mind, here are just 6 ways to better take care of your body:
1. Prioritize sleep for better care
It’s recommended that adults get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep a night, and you should take that a priority if you want to improve your mood, fight fatigue, lower your blood pressure and maintain a healthy weight, amongst other things. Sleep is so important, so don’t let it pass you by.
2. Schedule regular medical appointments
You can’t look after your body, and your health if you don’t know how it’s doing, which is why you need to monitor it regularly. One of the best ways to do that is by scheduling regular health checks. Whether you’re recovering from the flu, adjusting to hearing aids, or you’ve noticed a weird symptom you’re not sure about, seeing the right healthcare professional at the right time could improve your quality of life, and maybe even save it too.
3. Stay hydrated
More of us than not are at least a little dehydrated and this can affect us in a number of ways from being prone to headaches and migraines to feeling fatigued and just not able to perform as well as we would like. Luckily, there’s an easy fix for this – but a refillable bottle of water and sip it throughout the day.
4. Take nutrition seriously
Your body needs the right balance of vitamins and minerals to function optimally, so when you’re cooking, try to make meals that have a healthy balance of nutrients across the week. You can have the occasional treat, but the bulk of what you eat should be healthy fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Oh, and a little healthy fat is great for you too.
5. Move more
You don’t have to take up running or hit the gym, but if you want to take good care of your body, building more movement into your day is a good idea. This could mean taking the stairs instead of the elevator or =doing a few stretches while you’re cooking dinner – it doesn’t matter what you do as long as you’re moving more, burning calories, and using your body.
Meditating will help you find more peace and calm in your life. It will help you to feel less stressed, depressed and anxious, and help you to live your life optimally, so what are you waiting for?
Taking better care of your body is a whole lot simpler than you might think, so there is no excuse not to look after yourself!
