An Ethical Beauty Regimen in 4 Easy Steps

Want an ethical beauty regimen but not sure where to begin? Here are four easy steps you can take to make big changes!

It’s 2020. Many of us are now more concerned about the ramifications of our behaviors on the natural world than ever before. We cycle more than we drive, turn the heating on our thermostats down, and source local food whenever possible.

An ethical beauty regimen is easily accomplished with simple changes

It turns out that you can make your beauty regime more sustainable and ethical, too, with some pretty simple changes. Here are some ideas:

Use Natural Products

During the twentieth century, manufacturers tried to convince us that we needed to put synthetic chemicals on our skin to make it look great. But as the years have worn on, many women are becoming skeptical of whether that’s true. As such, natural brands are enjoying a resurgence in popularity.

Natural products, however, aren’t just beneficial for the body – they help the environment too. When you choose lipsticks, a lip exfoliator stick, eye shadows, foundations, and eyeliners made of ingredients from plants, you’re not putting anything into the environment that shouldn’t be there. It’ll all break down in the fullness of time.

Go Cruelty-Free

More and more women are also looking for vegan foundation like OFRA Cosmetics offers. Nobody wants to wear products that brands have used on animals. It’s not right and should have been stopped a long time ago.

Going cruelty-free and vegan is easier than ever before. The vast majority of top brands now operate no-animal-testing policy. And many are also certified suitable for people who don’t consume any animal products at all.

Create Your Own Products

With the rise of available ingredients online, many women are now making their own makeup instead of buying it. Natural ingredients include rosehip oil, coconut oil, honey, shea butter, and even citrus fruits. You can also look up how ancient cultures made their makeup and adapted their methods for the modern era. Again, if you go down this route, you’re guaranteed to find sustainable options. There were no petrochemicals in ancient Egypt.

Choose Brands That Support Local Communities

When it comes to supporting local communities, not all brands are created equal. Some donate a lot of their cash to important causes, but many keep it for shareholders.

As a consumer, though, you have a lot of power. You don’t have to buy makeup products exclusively from the major brands. You can branch out and choose those that offer extra services to the community and take part in charitable giving.

Brands support local communities in all sorts of ways. Some fund schools and hospices, while others assist shelters or parks. Please take a look at the brand’s charitable giving page on its website and see how it helps people. You can also read about its mission on the “about” page.

In conclusion, it is now easier than ever before to make your beauty regime more ethical. While you had to go down the DIY route in the past, you don’t need to anymore. Brands are falling over themselves to offer compassionate products (and advertise the fact). The more women who choose these labels, the better the world will be. Remember, your choices carry a lot of weight.
