Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to my (ever-growing!) list of FAQs! I frequently receive emails, comments, messages, etc. asking similar questions, so I thought I would create a go-to resource for your inquiring minds. If you’ve just discovered my blog, this is a great place to start. If you have a question that hasn’t been answered here, feel free to reach out on my contact page.
What are you looking to feature on your blog?
I am open to featuring products that I believe are good for my family and my readers. You’ll want to read my About page to learn more about me, my family, and what we like.
If an unsolicited sample is sent, is a review guaranteed?
No; however, we do make an effort to only accept submissions of items that we are interested in. We will always discuss this on a case-by-case basis.
Do you accept compensation for posts?
Only “sponsored” posts. These are clearly marked with a disclaimer.
Do you accept articles and high-res images as a form of payment?
Can you pay your bills with high-res images?? On a rare occasion, I have shared an article that really resonated with my readers or a cause that I strongly believe in; however, please don’t insult my work as a writer by offering these things like they are worth a million dollars!
Are you accepting guest posts?
No – not at this time.
How long have you been blogging?
I started out as a coupon blogger in 2011 to share my deals with family and friends.
Can I advertise on your blog/social media outlets?
Feel free to email me with your ideas and we can discuss a potential collaboration and my rates.
Do you have a background in food?
Professionally – no. But I spent a lot of time standing in a chair beside the stove as my grandpa and mom cooked. My mom helped more with the influence on my baking skills. It would be a dream come true for me to open my own restaurant!
Do you try other food blogger’s recipes?
Absolutely! I have several that I follow because they offer recipes that I wouldn’t ordinarily think of myself.
Can I use your photos or recipes on my blog?
You are free to use the image in round-ups as long as it is not altered. This includes cropping to remove the watermark. A short description is fine but please do not include a copy of the full ingredients or instructions. Be sure to send me an email if you include my recipe in one of your features!
Do you follow a specific diet?
I like to joke around that I follow the “seafood” diet – aka the SEE FOOD EAT IT diet! I have been blessed without major food allergies or any restrictions. I do have to be careful with the amount of dairy products I consume as I have a slight intolerance to lactose.
My oldest son has allergies to tree nuts so you won’t find very many recipes featuring them. Cross-contamination is always possible — even when the most care is given to prevent it!
Why didn’t your recipe work for me?
Everyone’s kitchen is a completely different playground. Our stove top and ovens heat differently and the pots/pans we use can create a change. Using the freshest ingredients possible always seems to help, especially when baking. If yours was a complete failure, please feel free to contact me and we can work our way through it together.
How much testing of a recipe do you do?
At a minimum, I will make a recipe twice to ensure that it wasn’t a lucky one-hit-wonder.
What is your favorite recipe?
There are far too many for me to choose just one! I do have a preference for southern, soulful, comfort food, though!
Do you use cookbooks?
Yes! I have a 1960’s Betty Crocker cookbook that is my go-to; but I do enjoy browsing other cookbooks from time to time.
What is your favorite type of food?
If I could only choose one, it would easily be TexMex. I love salsa, grilled chicken and veggies, and of course, queso!
What are your favorite kitchen appliances/tools?
Cast Iron is my number one, closely followed by the Instant Pot. I have a vintage, wooden-handle pastry cutter that I picked up for $.45 at a thrift shop that is far superior to any modern cutter I’ve owned.
