UPGRADE YOUR HOLIDAYS WITH JACK DANIEL’S WINTER JACK FRESH CRANBERRY SAUCE:
Thanksgiving always requires certain side dishes for my family. One of these is cranberry sauce. From as far back as I can remember, every table had a can-shaped gel on the table that frequently caused chaos to break out. I tried one tiny bite years ago and never did understand what the fuss was over. Is it the fact that it’s shaped like a can? Because honestly, it cannot be because of the flavor.
Hosting Thanksgiving at my house has become an annual thing since we bought our “forever home” in 2018. I have been spending more and more time in my kitchen and taking the chance at trying new dishes I have never made before. I set out to find a homemade cranberry sauce recipe and was disappointed by the lack of flavor depth.
The great thing about this recipe is that it can be made with or without the Jack Daniel’s Winter Jack Whiskey. Keep in mind though, the alcohol is cooked out during the process (unless, of course, you want to add it after cooking!). You can also substitute any variety of your favorite whiskey to this recipe, but I chose the Winter Jack specifically because of the seasonal flavor it provides. If you don’t want to use it, simply replace the whiskey with the same measurement of cranberry juice.
Winter Jack is a blend of apple cider liqueur, Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey and holiday spices. It adds a touch of spice that you can’t quite get with standard allspice or cinnamon. And living in Lynchburg, well, you know I’m a little partial to our hometown flavor!
A lot of cranberry sauce recipes call for orange juice, and that’s another thing I decided to change up. I had Cran-Apple Juice on-hand and since we all love the flavor of it, that was what I ran with. It was a delicious decision! That’s one of the many reasons this cranberry sauce is an easy recipe.
