Instant Pot® Cinnamon Pear Applesauce

My boys don’t take their lunch to school as often as they did in elementary school (because high school!); but they do love to find this in the fridge for an after-school snack! It’s also become a favorite go-to dish when they need that extra boost after supper.

After enjoying a bowl of this applesauce, we won’t go back to store-bought. The flavors and texture simply can’t be beat.

Tools You’ll Need to Make Cinnamon Pear Applesauce

Which Apples and Pears are best?

My favorite apple is the Honeycrisp; however, you can use Gala, Fuji, or Ambrosia and still achieve the same sweetness. I have also made this with Granny Smith apples and my youngest son enjoyed the extra tartness.

Our local stores don’t carry a big variety of pears so I grab the Bartlett pears for this recipe.

You'll never go back to store-bought applesauce once you taste Instant Pot® Cinnamon Pear Applesauce!

  • 4 large apples, cored and chopped
  • 2 large pears, cored and chopped
  • ¼ c. water or sugar-free apple juice
  • 2 t. ground cinnamon
  • 1 T. fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: 1-2 T. honey, preferably local

Combine apples, pears, water, ground cinnamon, and fresh lemon juice in Instant Pot® and stir to combine. Add lid and lock into place. Switch
the vent to “Sealing” and set the “Manual” setting to 4 minutes.

When cook time is complete, allow pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then manually release any remaining pressure.

Taste and add honey to sweeten, if desired. Carefully transfer mixture to a food processor or high-powered blender and blend until smooth. (For chunkier results, use an immersion blender instead).

Serve immediately, or transfer to airtight containers and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week. Enjoy!

For added fiber, do not peel the apples or pear prior to cooking. The final result will still be incredibly smooth and creamy after blending.
