How are you maintaining your well-being during lockdown? Check out a few things you can do to stay connected, happy, and healthy!
The last few weeks have been unprecedented all around the world, with many disruptive changes to our daily lives occurring, in an effort to keep us all safe and reduce the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. The lockdown for many is unclear as to when it will be back to normal. Along with the advice around social distancing and self-isolation, it can all have an impact on our well-being.
There is scientific evidence to prove this all too, as found in this study about how nature impacts our well-being. When we spend time in nature, it can benefit our physical well-being, as well as our mental well-being. But when you feel anxious to go out, or even unsure of the rules around social distancing, then you may not be going out in the outdoors very much at all. The opportunities to engage with nature are going to be less during this pandemic, of course. But there are still some things that we can do to stay connected with nature and with others, look after our well-being, and importantly, keep safe. Here are some things to try.

Stay active
If you are able to go outside for some exercise, whether that is a run, walk, or bike ride, the fresh air can make such a difference. It can boost your mood instantly. If you have a garden or outside space, then it is fun to be out there too, but moving around out there, rather than just sitting, will be a good way to keep active and look after your well-being more. A game like Cornhole can be a good idea, as it doesn’t need a lot of space, like tag would. You could even get some personalized Cornhole bags here: https://www.cornholeworldwide.com/products/cornhole-bags/custom-cornhole-bags/. Just think about moving more, getting your step count up, and having fun as a family, and you’ll really start to feel the benefit.
Bring the outside indoors
House plants and flowers can be another thing that can be a valuable mood booster. It will also give you something to focus on, as they will need attention and care each day. You could even plant outdoors if needed, and create something for valuable wildlife to be attracted to, such as bees.
Look after the planet
There can be so much on our minds at the moment, but something that could help you to take your mind off things, could be to care for and look after the planet. The earth is using this time to heal, but we can do more. Think about where you buy things in your home from, and where you get your food from. Use the time that we have in lockdown to recycle as much as possible, and to also reuse as much as possible. Small steps can make a big difference.
Is there anything else that you would add to the list to maintaining your well-being on lockdown? It would be great to hear what you think.
The opportunity to go outside should definitely be taken advantage of during these time. Thanks for the tips!
