Prepare Your Skin for Fall with a DIY Pumpkin Scrub

A DIY Pumpkin Scrub is the perfect way to welcome Fall. It’s still quite warm here in Lynchburg, but I am ready to feel, smell, and wrap my arms around everything to do with the wonderful season. The cooler air makes fragrances and flavors such as pumpkin, apples, maple, and cinnamon warm the world around us. Why not incorporate these into a DIY body scrub? This sweet scrub is perfect for weekly pampering and as a gift!

A Sweet Treat for Your Skin

The Fall air is dry and your skin deserves a sweet treat to moisturize and remove all of those dead skin cells. You’ll love the improvement in your skin’s texture! Spread the love by creating a large batch, packaging it in a waterproof container or jar, and put a cute bow on it. For my birthday, a sweet friend of mine sent a jar of her homemade lemonade scrub. It was amazing!

DIY sugar scrubs may seem intimating to make but chances are, you already have a lot of the ingredients at home. Once you have a base recipe, you can swap ingredients to create a variety of scrubs that are seasonal or even holiday-themed. For the best results, I recommend using high-quality ingredients.

After using the pumpkin scrub, preserve your fresh skin by using a rich, hydrating lotion or cream – specifically on your elbows, knees, ankles, and feet.

Let’s get to scrubbing!

To make an 8 oz. container of the pumpkin scrub, begin by melting ¼ cup of coconut oil. Remove from heat and combine with 1 cup of sugar (brown or white), 2 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice, and 1 tsp. of vanilla extract. Mix until fully-incorporated and store in an air-tight container. Enjoy!
