Garlic-Herb Butter makes everything better — especially Atlantic Cod! Our family tries to indulge in a fish-centered dish at least once per week and cod is one of our favorites. This dish is keto-friendly; but trust me, it’s quite delicious regardless of whether you’re on a specific diet or not!
Cod is a great choice of fish for your dinner table. It is a good source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, as well as B-12 and B-6. Are your levels low for vitamins A, C, or E? You’ll get a good source of those, too.
Omega-3 fatty acids are great for cardiovascular health. Long-term fish intake also helps protect against heart arrhythmia. My mom’s side of the family suffers from a congenital heart disorder. I haven’t shown signs; but I’m staying vigilant in protecting myself and my family.

Garlic-Herb Butter Atlantic Cod
- 6 tbsp butter (unsalted, softened)
- 1½ tsp garlic (finely minced)
- 1 tsp parsley (fresh, finely chopped)
- 1 tsp thyme leaves (fresh, finely chopped)
- 2 tsp basil (fresh, finely chopped)
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 6 Atlantic cod fillets (4 oz. each)
- sea salt (to taste)
- black pepper (to taste)
- parsley (garnish)
Transfer the butter mixture to the center of a sheet of plastic wrap and form into a log. Wrap tightly and place inside the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to become firm.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Pat cod filets dry with a paper towel and season both sides with salt and black pepper, to taste.
Add filets to hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they become golden brown. Reduce heat to medium and carefully flip each fillet. Top each filet with an equal amount of herb butter and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes. While cooking, spoon the herb butter back over the filets as it melts.
Remove from heat and transfer fillets to individual serving plates. Drizzle with melted herb butter and garnish with some fresh chopped parsley, if desired.
